What are the potential complications of eyelid surgery?

Preparing for the day of surgery

Dr. Ebroon’s staff will instruct you on how to prepare for the surgery.  It is extremely important for every patient to stop any blood thinning medication two weeks ahead of surgery.  Aspirin and NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatories) like Advil will thin the blood and cause excessivecosmetic eyelid surgery image bleeding.  Too much bleeding can lead to complications and at the very least will make bruising and swelling worse.  Stopping these blood thinners makes surgery much safer.

Patients are also asked to get ready for surgery by obtaining clearance from their primary care doctor and obtaining the topical antibiotic that Dr. Ebroon prescribes for use on the eyelids after surgery.
